THE Trip - Day 6 (Connecting Links)

An easy, leisurely day of travel is needed every now and then.  This was a nice treat after several days of physical activity and winding mountain drives.  What makes a nice day even nicer is when you get to meet a fellow blogger in a real face-to-face meeting.

The internet and blogs are wonderful links between people who share common interests.  My real life example goes like this … I am friends with Patricia, who has blogged  for 2 years and who taught me to blog a few months ago.  Patricia is the longer term blog friend of a former CA resident, Rosaria, who is a seasoned blogger now living in Oregon.   When Patricia learned of my trip up the Oregon coast, she emailed Rosaria….Rosaria emailed me…and the chain of links was formed.

Today, Rosaria graciously hosted Dennis and I to lunch at Redfish Restaurant in her home town of Port Orfort, OR.  We coordinated the meeting and she felt sure that she would recognize me from my recent photos in the blogs – plus the CA car license plates.  Over great food and a nice Oregon wine, we covered a wide range of topics from the basics of our backgrounds and families; to Oregon small town life; to food programs in schools; to why we blog.  The time went by much too quickly and soon Dennis and I needed to journey on up the Oregon coast.   I may have met a fellow blogger; but I feel that I made a new friend.

Today’s opportunity to meet and chat with Rosaria in ‘real time’ showed me how inter-connected we all are on our planet.   From our shared California background... it really is ‘a small world after all’.
