THE Trip - Day 18 (Seattle Classics)

Yesterday, a college football game was going on here in town.  Today, the Seattle Seahawks were playing.  Pretty good signs that Fall is upon us.

But there is one other sign that carries more weight with me…Starbucks now offers their ‘Pumpkin Spice Latte’….yahoo…let the good times start!!!!  To make it even better, we went to the original Starbucks location at 1912 Pike Road.

The whole Farmer’s Market and Fish Market is a classic location for Seattle.  Tourists love it; and so do the vendors.   It is filled with food treats, flower bouquets, fish flying, micro-breweries, and people from everywhere.

Following lunch, we ambled two blocks and enjoyed a great afternoon at the Seattle Art Museum.  Luck was on our side as we happened to be there when they were doing their once a month full demonstration of a Japanese Tea Ceremony put on by four local Japanese women in authentic kimonos that had been in their families for generations.  Inside the tea house that the museum transported from Japan, they explained the interior setting, formal host to guest greetings, and tea procedures.  It was an unexpected and delightful hour.

Our last classic event of the day was to visit the Pike Place Brewery for a microbrewery beer tasting.   Both Dennis and I found favorites among the seven varieties we tasted…I may just have to revisit this location to do a re-test before we leave!!

  1. OMG Pumpkin Spice Latte at the original Starbucks. I hope you had a moment of silence... We will have to share one in El Segundo when we are both back on local soil!
