THE Trip - Day 25 (Portland Uncovered)

Another favorite place!!!  If Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco, Portland has now claimed a big chunk of mine.  It comes across as charming and weird at the same time…a little funky and fun.

Perhaps, I was influenced today by our tour guide …Erick.   This young man is an entrepreneur extraordinaire.   He runs ‘Secrets of Portlandia Free Walking Tour’.  Yes, free.  Of course, donations are accepted at the end of the tour.  He has a very interesting series of anecdotes about the various locations within the historic portion of Seattle that entertain more than educate.    As we stopped along the route to listen to him, he would welcome any passing visitors and strays listening in to join our group.  We started with 14 and ended with 18.  An excellent recruiter….and salesman.

What happens when Portland floods and the salmon are running.
The City of Portland's smallest official City Park.

We took advantage of our excellent parking location and wandered the streets in the area after the tour and lunch prior to visiting the Portland Art Museum.  They have a large collection of American artists whose works I really enjoyed viewing.

I’m very glad that we will have a total of three nights and four days here in Portland so that I can really find out if it is worthy of a piece of my heart.
